Emma Kyles Senior Worker

Hiya, my name is Emma Kyles and I’m the Senior Worker at Café K. I’ve been involved in the Jack Kane Centre on and off since 1999, and have worked with Café K since 2003. I use to stay in the Greater Craigmillar area until 2005, and I really enjoy working in the area that I grew up in. I’m involved in loads of different groups and projects such as the girls group, fcuk, and oot n aboot.

 

Davie Owens Childrens Development Worker

Hi people my name is Davie Owens I am the children’s development worker at the centre I have been here for nearly 6 years now. I work at the Boys club on a Monday night and also at the under 12s clubs on a Tuesday night and Friday afternoon as well as working at FCUK.And at the local primary schools with Alan carrying out our Early Intervention work.

When I’m not working I like to go and watch hibs play. I have a 2 year old boy son so that takes up most of my time if not it all. So won’t find me dancing about the town as I used to- ha-ha

 

Scott Fraser Jack Kane Centre
O'right ma bomaz! Ma name is "Big Scott Fraser" xox. B4 I started working here at the Jack Kane Centre as a Community Learning n Development worker. a wiz fortunate enuf ti b part ah Cafe K, indeed as ah huv been thrroo this project I huv seen it grow n develope at a rapid rate, which the young people wee work wi hink it is minted.

Alright? Hi everyone, Before I started working as a CLDW. I was fortunate enough to be part of the embrionic stages at Cafe K. Indeed, though cultivating this project I have seen it grow and develop at a rate which suits the young people we work with and the community centre. Interesting part: I was one of the last YTS trainees earning £25.00 per week so thanks Maggie Thatcher for the foot up! (Sarcasm is one of my strong points!).

 

Sam Feichney Sessional Youth Worker

Im Sam and I work in U12 thursdays and FU12 on an Friday afternoon. I also work for Edinburgh Lesiure and deliver sessions in the pulse centre on Friday evenings at FCUK.

I'm also in my 3rd year at Napier University doing a degree in Sports and work within the chidlren's groups at Castleview Community Centre.

 

Fran Nothard Sessional youth worker (Drama)
Hi my name is Fran and I work in the drama group. When I’ve got time I love to write scripts for shows and enjoy watching the drama group bringing them to life. I love singing and think of myself as a bit of a karaoke queen! I’m also a massive fan of Meat Loaf, he’s the best!!

 

Diane Smith

Sessional youth worker

Hi my name is Diane and I work in the children's U12 clubs, I first started at the centre on placement and enjoyed so much I stayed, now at UNI I have learned so much from the young people the challenges and expectations it brings. I appreciate being part of the dynamic staff team here at the JKC.

 

Nicky Lyall Sessional youth worker
Hi my name is Nicky and I am part of the team that works with the FU 12 Friday, Boys Club and happy Hibee. I also work at Castleview Community Centre and organise all the activities for children and young people there.

 

 

 

 

 

Shelly Northard Sessional Youth Worker
  My name is Shelly and I work in the drama group. I enjoy taking part in drama activities especially singing and dancing.

 

Kim Ferguson Volunteer
  My name is Kim and I work within the Girls Group and FCUK/Open All Hours. I am in my 1sy year at Edinburgh University studying for a degree in Community Education.

 

Lauren Whitherspoon Volunteer

Hi my name is Lauren and i volunteer in FCUK/Open All Hours on Friday evenings. I also work alongside the Oot N Aboot team on a Sunday Night at the Sunday Service.

I am currently in my final year at university studying for a degree in journalism.

 

Kevin Finlay KITS Worker
Hi I'm Kev and I work for KIDS in the street and come along to the Jack Kane on Fridays and Sundays to run Sports sessions.

 

Alan Jeffrey Youth Development Worker
 

Hey, I’m Alan, the Youth Development Worker here at Café K. I’ve been here since summer of 2010, and I love it here so far!

I look after a few of the clubs in the centre and I also work with Davie in the schools

Graeme Armstrong Volunteer
  Hi my name is Graeme and I have been a member of the FCUK staff team on a Friday night as a volunteer for over a year now. Originally from the West coast I moved up to Edinburgh to attend University where I study Community Education. My interests and hobbies are sport, but in particular football and golf. I hope to continue the good work that the Jack Kane strives to do on a daily basis for many years to come, if they let me that is.
