The
centre itself has been up and standing since 1976 and Cafe K as a youth
provision came around as a pilot project in 2002 which was overseen
by the Jack Kane Management Commitee. Through securing funding the project
was able to continue, albeit small steps at first, but now has a staff
team comprimising of 11 workers who are either full time, sessional
or volunteers, which enables Cafe K to provide a service to young people
52 weeks of the year.
This page brings
together all the past projects that Cafe K has been involved in whilst
working in partnership with other agencies and local young people.

Revolting
youth was an informal education course based around issues which
were affecting young people living in Craigmillar. It was envisaged
the course would unmask young peoples’ interpretations of
their own experiences and how active their role is in the decisions
that are made about them. |

Early
interventions summer group is a short piece of work which ran in
partnership with the Youth Inclusion Worker, Café K and Jack
Kane Community Centre, to work alongside children who already attend
groups within the centre. These children were identified as having
additional support needs. This
took place during summer 2006.
